Are you one of the 750+ people that have opted into online T4 slips? If not, your time is running out...Friday, January 31 is the deadline to complete the consent form to opt in for 2013. In an effort to improve services to employees and cut down on printing and mailing costs, 91探花 HR will be launching online T4 slips for the 2013 tax year. Online tax slips will be available, through Campus Login, to current and former employees who received taxable earnings or benefits in 2013. Online T4s are official tax slips accepted by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). However, CRA requires employees to give their consent in order to access their tax slips electronically. Your consent will be valid for all subsequent tax years. New employees can grant consent for online T4s after they have received their first pay cheque. Employees who do not provide consent will have their 2013 T4s mailed to the address on file no later than February 28, 2014. Electronic T4s will be available sooner than the printed versions due to a lesser processing time. The consent form can be accessed through Campus Login (). The consent form must be completed by January 31, 2014. For employees who file their taxes electronically, printing the slip is optional. You will be able to read the values for each of the tax slip boxes online as you are completing your income tax return. You will always have access to slips under Campus Login should you need them now or in the future. We hope to offer similar online service for T4A slips in the future, however, for the 2013 tax year all T4As will be printed and mailed no later than February 28, 2014. Have an entrepreneurial idea? If so, enter the 2014 idea competition (the 91探花 Nicol Competition). Cash prizes totaling $8,500 remain. The deadline for submitting a summary of your idea is February 4, 2014. Undergraduate students from across campus are eligible to compete. The International Relations Office will host the thirteenth annual International Development Week February 3-7. The 2014 theme will be: "International Storytelling," and will encompass events such as an evening international coffee house, international/Olympic trivia, an international opportunities fair for students, an international themed hockey game, and a fundraising reception starring master storyteller Laura Simms. April is Daffodil month, a month to remember and honour those who have been touched by cancer. It is also a time to raise funds for the programs, services, and research done by the Canadian Cancer Society. This is an opportunity for 91探花 to help with these efforts. The University has been apart of the Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Campaign for many years, and the Society's PEI Division is currently seeking a new champion to take on the role of liaising between the various 91探花 departments. This person would receive an email in March with an order form and the deadline date for orders. They would then need to contact each department, and ensure all orders are collected by the deadline to be delivered on April 1. This is an important clinic because of the lost donations this time of year due to illness. There is also an increase in the demand for blood as 8000 new PEI and NS donors are needed as part of the 160,000 new donors needed nationally. The Robertson Library is getting a jump start on celebrating Valentine's Day! From now until February 14, the Library will be selling a small booklet (designed and made in-house) of love poems. The cost is $2.00 and all proceeds will go towards the support of developing our poetry collection. The booklet is available from the Circulation Desk. Faculty members featured that night include Karem J. Simon, accompanied by pianist Frances McBurnie, performing Alessandro Marcello鈥檚 Concerto for clarinet and Gregory B. Irvine accompanied by Frances Gray on piano in a performance of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi鈥檚 Sinfonia in F for tuba. Percussion instructor David Shephard will feature the marimba on A Little Prayer composed by Evelyn Glennie and pianist Frances Gray will perform East Coast Suite composed by island native Heather Taves. Tickets for the gala are $15 / $10 for students and seniors, and are available at the door or in advance by calling 566-0507 or by email at music@upei.ca
