The 91̽»¨ Women's Studies Program is officially changing its name! We are now officially Diversity and Social Studies (DSJS for short)--a name change we're all very excited about. This new name more completely reflects the variety of courses and approaches offered in the program, through both its core courses and the range of courses cross listed from other fields/disciplines. Changes will be made to the academic calendar and timetable, and in other places on the 91̽»¨ website, throughout the semester. We are excited to announce that the 91̽»¨ Outdoor Rink is now ready and open for skating! The rink is located between the W.A. Murphy Student Centre and Kelley Memorial Building, and is open from 7:30 am-9:00 pm daily with ice quality subject to ice conditions. Don't have skates? Skates are available to borrow from the Panther Central Desk in the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. Please note: The Sports Centre is still accepting donations of skates and helmets. We welcome all staff, students, faculty, community members, and of course your families to come out for a skate. We ask that you review and abide by the guidelines below, these are also posted at the rink. A big thanks to the 91̽»¨ Outdoor Rink Committee made up of representatives from 91̽»¨ Student Union, Administration and Finance, Facilities, Integrated Communications, and Athletics and Recreation who worked together to make this possible. The 91̽»¨ is not responsible for injury or loss of personal property as the result of use of this ice surface.
Do you need support in your qualitative research project? Looking to connect and share ideas with other researchers on campus? We can help! Young Lives Research and its 91̽»¨ Qualitative Research Lab is offering informal workshops for qualitative researchers across campus. You're invited to meet with other qualitative researchers from various departments/disciplines to share your research ideas and methods, talk about particular challenges you have faced, and help build a qualitative research community here at 91̽»¨. The forum is open to anyone on campus, student, staff, or faculty who conducts qualitative research and wishes to share/hear about experiences of members of the qualitative research community. Informal workshops will be held on Fridays once a month from 2:00-4:00 pm. The first forum will take place on March 14 in Dalton Hall, Room 414. For more information, please email cyct@upei.ca

Dr. Fabrice Berrue, 91̽»¨/Nautilus Biosciences Canada, will present a seminar on Wednesday, February 5 at 12:30 pm. Dr. Berrue's presentation is entitled "Natural products Chemistry: Expanded Mission and New Opportunities." The seminar will be held in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Lecture Theatre Room 212. All are welcome to attend.
As chair of the search committee for the Dean of the School of Business I am pleased to announce Dr. Juergen Krause as a candidate for the position. Dr. Krause is currently a faculty member and Interim Dean in the School of Business. On Monday February 10 at 2:00 pm, Dr. Krause will make a public presentation. The presentation will be in McDougall Hall, Room 328 and all faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend. 91̽»¨ Men’s Basketball has teamed up with award-winning Kimberlee Farms of Centreville, Nova Scotia to raise funds for various 91̽»¨ athletic financial awards through the sale of honey crisp apples. The farm’s owner, Tim Pearson, is a long-time friend of 91̽»¨ Men’s Basketball Head Coach Tim Kendrick, and is also a Green & White Club member. Ten-pound bags of honey crisp apples will be sold for $20. Orders can be made through the men’s basketball players, or by visiting Panther Central.
