It’s time for 91̽»¨â€™s second annual Open Class Week. This year, all faculty and staff are invited to attend classes that have been opened to guests by faculty members during the week of February 24-28. If you are interested in attending classes, please visit and simply type your name in one of the five boxes under the date and time of each class you would like to attend. Then all you have to do is show up to whichever classes you’ve registered for! No preparation is required. If you want to know more about a class before you sign up, just check 91̽»¨â€™s academic calendar: Please sign up for classes before February 14 so that those instructors who have opened their classes will know how many guests to expect. And if you are one of those volunteers, you can check the document at any time to find out how many people will be attending your open classes. If you have any questions, please just write to Gerald at the Faculty Development Office: fdo@upei.ca

On Friday, February 14, 91̽»¨ will take part in ONE BILLION RISING—the global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. The campus community is invited to dance together to support the movement. Join us in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre from 12:15–1:00 pm. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than one billion women and girls. One billion women and those who love them will walk out, dance, rise up, and demand an end to this violence. Learn more at . Both the Advisory Council on the Status of Women and PEI Family Violence Prevention Services (PEI FVPS) will be present as community representatives and supporters. Donations will be accepted in support of PEI Family Violence Prevention Services.

Join us on Tuesday February 11 at 7:00 pm for the 91̽»¨ Climate Lab Lecture Series as Dr. Adam Fenech, director of the Climate Lab, presents results from recent coastal erosion research projects conducted on Prince Edward Island. The change in PEI’s coastline has been measured, mapped, and analyzed from 1968 to 2010. Buildings, roads and bridges have been assessed as to their vulnerability to future coastal erosion and sea level rise. Come see how our communities will be affected. Dr. Fenech will present the results of this research including the unveiling of a new interactive 3-D geo-visualization platform known as CLIVE. CLIVE allows stakeholders to interactively explore PEI's coastline, and scenarios of future climate change, sea-level rise and storm surges.
