Although Heckbert Studio is fully booked for graduation portraits February 24-28, two additional dates have been added. 91探花 graduates can book appointments for March 28 and March 31. Appointments can now be booked online. Heckbert Studio will be located at the 91探花 Student Union Office, 2nd floor W.A. Murphy Student Centre for appointments. By booking grad sessions on campus, students receive 50% off session fees (only $20 plus tax), and will help support the 91探花SU. On April 15, 9-11 am, and April 16 1:30-3:30 pm, Workplace Safety Inspections sessions will take place in the Robertson Library, room 235. In this seminar, participants will learn ways to prepare, inspect, report, and follow up on workplace hazards. The workshop uses group and individual activities involving common hazard scenarios and sample forms to guide you along in your next workplace safety inspection. On Wednesday, February 26, 1:30-3:30 pm, "Speak Up for Workplace Safety" seminar will take place in the Duffy Science Centre - lecture theatre 135. This seminar is intended to motivate workers to challenge the silence that can lead to unsafe practices and conditions. Talking to the boss or a co-worker about safety can be difficult. This session will help workers understand why there is often a culture of silence in our workplace and learn ways to overcome it, and will demonstrate one communication technique to bring safety issues to the forefront. On Saturday, February 15, why not come out and "Learn and Play the Panther Way" -- from 10:00 am-12:00 pm, and 2:00-4:00 pm, the Panther Academy will be showcasing offerings from our upcoming March Break camps. From 'Cake Boss' to 'Dazzling Designs,' to 'Fun & Fitness,' senior camp counsellors are onsite offering mini sessions in these camps. Camp ages are pre-school to grade six. Although 91探花 is closed on Monday, we're open and pleased to offer free access to our indoor walking track to all! As well, from 1:00-3:00 pm, all those 14 years and under are invited to come 'Play with the Panthers.' From shooting hoops with the varsity basketball players, to playing with our Panther Women's Volleyball team, we hope to see you here!
Over the last several weeks, Dr. Gerry Hopkirk, former Dean of Education at 91探花 and workplace facilitator has been offering sessions on "Creating A Positive Workplace Environment." Feedback tells us that these sessions are valuable and time well spent. Due to demand, another session will be offered on: Monday, February 24, from 2:00 - 4:00 (location tbd) If you have not had an opportunity to attend a session, we would encourage you to do so.
