Dr. Johanna Wolf, Associate Professor for the School of Environment and Sustainability at Royal Roads University, British Columbia, is a candidate for 91探花's new Canada Research Chair in Sustainability, Resilience, and Island Contexts. Dr. Wolf will make two presentations, both of which will be open to the campus and research communities.
A general presentation, entitled 鈥淏etter off or Worse for Wear: Sustainability and Resilience Through Climate Adaptation," will take place on February 9, 10:30鈥11:30 am in AVC Lecture Theatre A. A technical presentation, entitled 鈥淐onnect, Collaborate, Co-produce: Shaping Climate Change Adaptation to Foster Island Resilience and Sustainability," will take place on February 10, 2:00鈥3:00 pm, in AVC Lecture Theatre A. A reception will follow each presentation in the McCain Foundation Learning Commons at AVC. All are welcome to attend.

91探花 Athletics and Recreation will host the eighth annual Shoot for the Cure fundraiser on Friday, February 6 with a series of activities leading up to, and during, the 91探花 women鈥檚 basketball game starting at 6:00 pm versus the Acadia Axewomen.
Shoot for the Cure is a fundraising initiative by the CIS Women鈥檚 Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) and other related charities.
The campaign goal is $6,000. Staff and faculty can support the women鈥檚 basketball team by purchasing a Shoot for the Cure t-shirt ($12) at Panther Central or the 91探花 Bookstore, a paper icon ($1) from Panther Central, or through the 鈥淕ofund鈥 donation page at: .
Fundraising efforts at the women鈥檚 basketball game include a bake sale, 50/50, and 鈥渃huck a puck.鈥

Dr. Megan MacLellan will interview for the open, tenure-track faculty position in radiology & diagnostic imaging in the Department of Companion Animals at the Atlantic Veterinary College. Dr. MacLellan graduated from AVC in 2011; completed an internship at Tufts Veterinary Emergency & Treatment Specialists and is now completing a Medical Imaging Residency program at the University of Minnesota.
As part of the interview process, Dr. MacLellan has been asked to present a 50-minute lecture suitable for 3rd year DVM students on Friday, January 30 at 12:30 pm in AVC, Lecture Theatre A. The title of her presentation is: 鈥淓quine Imaging: Common Diseases.鈥 Any interested faculty and staff are invited to attend. A copy of her CV and letter of application will be available from Laurel Fisher (fisher@upei.ca) in the Department of Companion Animals.
Alyssa Grunwald, Department of Biomedical Sciences will present a seminar called "Discovery of tetramic acid containing compounds from two Tolypocladium sp. isolated from Frobisher Bay" on Tuesday, February 3 at 3:30 pm in AVC Lecture Theatre C. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Ian Gardner, the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Aquatic Epidemiology, and his team have launched a new website showcasing the projects they have been working on over the past three years, as well as future endeavours.

The 91探花 Charity Club invites the campus community to the showing of Ryan鈥檚 Well, on Wednesday, February 4 from 2:00鈥3:30 pm in K.C. Irving Chemistry Centre, room 104, in celebration of 91探花's International Development Week. "Ryan's Well" is an inspirational story about a boy who was determined to make a difference in the lives of the people living Angolo, Uganda. Through Ryan Hreljac鈥檚 fundraising efforts, thousands of dollars was raised to build a well for the village. This documentary follows Ryan鈥檚 story from his first conversations with his Ugandan pen pal to the day he visited Angolo and saw the well for the first time.
Refreshments will be provided! All are welcome to attend.
The 2015 theme of this year鈥檚 IDW week is 鈥淲e Make a Difference.鈥 Join the campus community in learning about how 91探花 students, staff, and faculty make a difference through their work and studies, and how you can make a difference abroad or in your community. AVC faculty Dr. Shauna Richards, and Dr. Crawford Revie will host the third set of presentations in the Brown Bag Lunch Series, on Wednesday, February 4 at 11:30 am in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building.
Dr. Richards's presentation is titled 鈥淚mproving Dairy Farming in Kenya,鈥 and will be followed by Dr. Revie's presentation titled 鈥淲hat relevance does Big Data have to health care in developing economies?鈥

Have you signed up to receive your electronic T4 slip? If you completed the consent form for the 2013 tax year, you will automatically receive your 2014 tax slip electronically. There is no need to complete the consent form again. New consents must be received no later than January 30, 2015.
Online tax slips will be available, through Campus Login, to current and former employees, who received taxable earnings or benefits in 2014. Online T4s are official tax slips accepted by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). However, CRA requires employees to give their consent in order to access their tax slips electronically. Your consent will be valid for all subsequent tax years. New employees can grant consent for online T4s after they have received their first pay cheque.
Employees who do not provide consent will have their 2014 T4s mailed to the address on file no later than February 28, 2015. Electronic T4s will be available sooner than the printed versions due to a lesser processing time. The consent form can be accessed through Campus Login: . After 35 years of service to the 91探花, Dr. Philip G. Davis retired this month. Please join the Department of Religious Studies in extending our warm wishes for his well-deserved retirement at a reception in his honour. Refreshments will be served. The event will take place on Thursday January 29 from 2:30-4:00 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building.
