Dear Colleagues,
In accordance with the terms of Ms. Kathleen Kielly’s appointment as
University Registrar (July 1, 2008), a review of the position is being
conducted. A Presidential Advisory Committee has been struck to seek
feedback. Those who have had interactions with the position are encouraged
to comment on such topics as: commitment and contribution to the
University, vision and leadership, decision-making, interpersonal skills,
organization and planning, and individual and collaborative leadership.
The Committee will be chaired by Dr. Christian Lacroix, Vice-President
Academic (Interim) and includes members Dr. Rosemary Herbert, Dean of
Nursing; Dr. Neb Kujundzic, Professor of Philosophy; Dr. Kathy
Gotschall-Pass, Vice-Chair of Senate, Chair of Applied Human Sciences; Ms.
Deidre Smith, Manager, Accounting; Mr. Darcy McCardle, Assistant Registrar;
and Ms. Kate VanGerven, President of the 91̽»¨ Student Union. Mr. Ryan
Johnston, Director of Human Resources will serve as resource to the
committee. You are invited to submit your comments in confidence by email

The 91̽»¨ Music department is pleased to present a series of junior and senior recitals throughout the month of March. Nik Dragatakis (jazz guitar) and Cora Wong (flute) will be presenting their junior recital on Friday, March 15 at 7:30 pm. Cora’s junior recital program will feature works of Bach, Feld, Clarke, and Casella. Cora will be accompanied by Frances McBurnie.
Jazz guitarist Nik Dragatakis will be performing jazz classics by Kenny Wheeler, Jimmy VanHeusen, Wayne Shorter, and Bobby Timmons. His trio will feature Isaac Williams on bass and Patrick LeClair on drums. Nik will also be joined by guest performers Robyn Verhoeven on trumpet and Dan Rowswell on alto saxophone. Nik studies jazz guitar with Ian Toms.
The recitals take place in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, 91̽»¨

Dr. Gordon MacDonald, Department of Mathematics & Statistics, 91̽»¨ will
present a seminar on Wednesday, March 13 at 3:00 pm.
The title of Dr. MacDonald’s presentation is “Universal bounds for Matrix semi-groups."
No background beyond basic linear algebra is required to follow the talk.
The seminar will be held in The McCain Foundation Learning Commons (287N) in AVC.

health workshops on stress management, community resources, and
counselling. As a part of Mental Health Week at 91̽»¨, check out the

Stress Management
Location: Student Affairs, Boardroom A
Time: 11:30 am–12:30 pm
This workshop helps individuals identify the main contributors to work/life
stress, and learn coping strategies to achieve a sense of balance,
satisfaction and success in their family and work lives. Presented by Reid
Burke, Executive Director of Canadian Mental Health Association (PEI
division) this workshop will also focus on community resources in support
of mental health.
Bringing Yoga off the Mat
Location: Student Affairs, Boardroom A
Time: 1:00–1:50 pm
Did you ever wonder what people meant when they said that yoga has many
benefits? Did you know that all of these benefits weren’t just physical?
This workshop is geared to motivate others to bring the concepts applied in
yoga class, off the mat and into their everyday lives. No previous yoga
experience or a mat are required for this workshop.
Counselling 101: What really happens behind closed doors?
Location: Student Affairs, Boardroom A
Time: 2:30–3:30 pm
What really happens in counselling? Is it for me? Will it help my friend?
Counselling as a process seems to bring a lot of questions for people.
This conversation-based workshop, hosted by a counsellor with
Student Affairs is intended for students, staff and faculty
who have questions on counselling.

Tim will be graduating this spring from 91̽»¨ with a bachelor of music in guitar performance. His recital will feature works by Bach, Tarrega, Dominiconi and Albeniz,Villa-lobos.
