Robertson Library, in conjunction with the 91̽»¨ Biology Society, will be holding a used book sale on Friday, March 6, 12:00 - 6:00 pm and Saturday, March 7, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm in Room 302/303 (upper level) of the Robertson Library. (Storm date the following weekend, same time.) Come and browse through a great collection of books - there is something for everyone. Proceeds from the book sale help support the Library's collection. Prices: Hardcover books - $2.00 Large paperbacks - $1.00 Small paperbacks - $ .25 OR 5/$1.00 Coffee table books - $5.00 Videos - $1.00 $2.00 a box/bag begins at 1:00 pm on Saturday (coffee table books are not included)
Michel Arsenault, Department of Biomedical Sciences will present a seminar called "Unraveling the Sox of Urogenital Development," on Tuesday, March 3 at 3:30 pm in AVC Lecture Theatre C. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Dr. Johanna Wolf, Associate Professor for the School of Environment and Sustainability at Royal Roads University, British Columbia, is a candidate for 91̽»¨'s new Canada Research Chair in Sustainability, Resilience, and Island Contexts. Her presentations that were scheduled to take place on March 9 and 10 have been POSTPONED. Dr. Wolf’s CV is available at the reserve desk, Robertson Library. Brittany A. E. Jakubiec will present her Master of Education Thesis Defence on Tuesday, March 10 at 9:30 am in Memorial Hall, room 308. Her thesis is titled: "The Lived Experiences of Female Leaders in Two University Settings: Perceived Supports, Barriers, and Challenges." All are welcome to attend.

These awards will be presented during a Celebration of Colleagues to be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. Susan Connolly, Associate Vice President Human Resources & Legal, will lead the process and chair the committee to select award recipients. Online tax slips are now available, through campus login, to current and former employees who elected to receive their T4 electronically prior to February 6, 2015. Employees who do not provide consent will have their 2014 T4s mailed to them. For employees who file their taxes electronically, printing the slip is optional. You will be able to read the values for each of the tax slip boxes online as you are completing your income tax return. You will always have access to slips under campus login should you need them now or in the future. We hope to offer similar online service for T4A slips in the future, however, for the 2014 tax year all T4As will be printed and mailed no later than February 28, 2015. Time to Write faculty writers retreat, May 15-19 If you have difficulty carving out uninterrupted time for writing, if you struggle with motivating yourself to write, or if you would simply like the supportive collaboration of a writing retreat, consider Time to Write, 91̽»¨'s faculty writers retreat. When: Friday, May 15 to Tuesday, May 19 Where: Stanley Bridge Resort Cost to participants: $200, which includes four nights accommodation, meals and snacks Your project must be at a stage where sustained writing time makes sense. Your research and/or data collection and analysis must be completed to the point that you are ready to write. You must also be prepared to commit to the full program: a total of 3½ days focused on writing. The retreat is open to tenured and tenure stream 91̽»¨ faculty in any Department/Faculty/School. Email Research Communications Officer Dave Atkinson,datkinson@upei.ca, with a brief summary of the project you plan to work and your writing goals for the retreat. There is room for six participants at Time to Write.

Join our next conversation on Monday, March 2 at 7 pm at the Haviland Club in Charlottetown. Dr. Neb Kujundzic, associate professor of philosophy and dean of the Faculty of Arts, will lead a discussion entitled: What good is a university degree? The 2014/2015 season of Research on Tap is presented in cooperation with the Royal Society of Canada (RSC), Atlantic Chapter. The RSC is Canada’s national academy and is the senior national body of distinguished scholars, artists, and scientists. Research on Tap meets the first Monday of every month from October to April. The full schedule of speakers can be found atupei.ca/research/research-on-tap.

The program addresses the many areas one needs to consider for a successful and satisfying retirement, including the 91̽»¨ pension plan, Canada Pension Plan, tax implications, and making the personal transition to retirement. PRP is designed to assist you in becoming better-informed and to increase your skills in utilizing available resources. Each session will incorporate an expert speaker, time for questions from participants, and other materials pertinent to that session's topic.
