The 91探花 Music Department is pleased to present a showcase recital featuring 91探花 music students in performance. Works to be performed on clarinet, saxophone, oboe, trombone, and voice by various composers, including Rabaud, Telemann, Poulenc, Bach, Britten and others. This recital will take place at Tuesday, March 10 at 7:30 pm at the Kirk of St. James, Charlottetown. All are welcome to attend and admission is free.
Meditation is one of the best tools we have to balance our emotions, deal with physical and psychological distress, and promote the peace of the present moment. Let yourself be guided through a healing meditation on Tuesday, March 10 beginning at 12:45 pm in the Chaplaincy Centre. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a mat or pillow. All are welcome to attend.
Take part in the Mental Health Week Fair on Tuesday, March 10 from 10:00 am 鈥� 2:00 pm in the McCain Foundation Learning Commons, AVC. Venders from on- and off-campus will provide interactive and helpful displays in support of mental health. Come by for free food and prizes!
Dr. Amanda Cockshutt, Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Mount Allison University will present a seminar on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 12:30 pm. Dr. Cockshutt鈥檚 presentation is entitled 鈥淚nteractions of the Molecular Biology and Physiology of Marine Picocyanobacteria鈥�. The seminar will be held in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Lecture Theatre, Room 212.
91探花 students, staff and faculty are invited to join members of the Youth Speak program (Laing House peer-support program in Halifax, NS), as they share their personal stories, with a strong message of respect, hope and tolerance in an effort to build character, self-esteem and resilience.
Reid Burke, Executive Director, Canadian Mental Health Association and Anne Bartlett, 91探花 Student Affairs, will provide information on services offered on the Island and with-in our 91探花 community.

Darin鈥檚 daughter, Chalyce, would have been a third-year university student this year had she not lost her battle with anxiety and depression. On January 13, 2012 Chalyce took her own life at the age of 17. Listen to her family鈥檚 story and how they, through support of each other and support from family, friends, and the community, have moved forward. Darin鈥檚 inspirational story will show us all how we can help one another in making our Island community a healthier and more supportive environment by taking action in addressing mental health issues and breaking down the stigma.
This event is free for 91探花 students, staff, and faculty. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.

The event will feature a safe-listening and non-judgemental environment where various students, staff and faculty members will share their stories and encounters with mental illness. These stories will provide us with an opportunity to learn, care, and be inspired to help ourselves and those around us living with mental illnesses, and remind us all, that Relationships Matter. Refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to attend!
John Nicholson will present the last of this year's public talks in the History of Medicine series on Wednesday, March 11, at 7:00 pm at the Health Sciences Building, room 301.
This is a photographic history of the 10th Canadian Field Hospital from January to July of 1902. The photographs were taken by 20 year old William Alexander McKee from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He along with over 900 other Canadians enlisted with the last Canadian contingent to see active service in the South African Anglo/Boer War. The contingent consisted of the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles, the 10th Canadian Field Hospital and a team of 8 Nursing Sisters. All are welcome at attend!
Vagabond is presenting the controversial Canadian political play "Captives of the Faceless Drummer" by George Ryga, best known for "The Ecstasy of Rita Joe." The play opens in a near-future dystopian Canada. Harry, a respected diplomat, is hostage to a violent revolutionary cell led by the enigmatic Commander. The action bounces between past and present and offers glimpses into Harry and the Commander鈥檚 memories as they struggle to find common ground, despite overwhelming differences between them. The show runs in the Faculty Lounge of SDU Main Building, March 10 to 14.
The doors open at 7:00 pm for a 7:30 pm curtain. There are no advanced ticket sales and admission is pay-what-you-can. Join Tofigh Allahviranloo from the Department of Mathematics at Islamic Azad University, Iran, for a seminar titled "Introduction to Fuzzy Differential Equations," on Wednesday, March 11 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm in Don and Marion McDougall Hall, room 328.
In this talk we discuss Fuzzy differential equations (FDEs) and their applications. The talk starts with a background of the fuzzy numbers and their properties, fuzzy difference and fuzzy derivative. Fuzzy differential equations (FDE) ere considered as first order differential equations with fuzzy initial values. The solutions are of FDEs considered in analytical and numerical case. Finally, some real applications of FDE are presented for more illustration. For more information, please contact Shafiqul Islam at sislam@upei.ca.
The next 91探花 on-site training session in animal use and care will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm in AVC, Lecture Theatre A. This will be a three hour training session with handouts, based on CCAC Recommended Syllabus (exam included).
The Canadian Council of Animal Care (CCAC) requires that all personnel involved with the use of animals in research, teaching, testing and service take this course. (A refresher course is required every 5 years).
