Certificate in Educational Leadership in Nunavut
Note: the Certificate in Educational Leadership in Nunavut (CELN) program is not currently offered.
The Certificate in Educational Leadership in Nunavut (CELN) is a university-credited leadership program. The program is based on the long established Educational Leadership Program (ELP), which had been offered in the North for almost 30 years. In the past, the ELP program was certified by the OISE at the University of Toronto.
The CELN was developed by the Faculty of Education, 91探花, in collaboration with the Government of Nunavut, Department of Education. This program is designed to provide qualified teachers and educational leaders in Nunavut with the background, history, knowledge, skills and attitudes to provide culturally based, effective, and responsive, leadership in the school system. The five-course requirements of the Certificate focus on parental engagement, action research and approaches to school improvement that support the implementation of educational legislation and policy in Nunavut communities. Offered at the 5000 level for professional development in Nunavut, the CELN is certified by the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission (MPHEC).
The CELN program began on July 4, 2011 in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. This program is offered by a team of experienced Nunavut educational leaders who hold Master of Education degrees, including several Inuit graduates of the Nunavut MEd (2009).
