What brought you to 91探花? Why did you choose to study here?
I'm from Stratford, PEI, and I came to 91探花 because of the unique financial opportunity I had considering my proximity to the school and the George Coles Bursary.
What do you find unique and interesting about the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program?
I love 91探花's Chemistry program for the support and sense of community it offers its students. Professors are always over-the-top helpful when you ask for it and are always kind and receptive to questions. The Chemistry Student Society is also a well-run organization that hosts events throughout the semester, giving students opportunities to connect with other chemistry students and have a ton of fun!
What kinds of support have you received during your time here from 91探花 students, staff, and faculty members?
Professors are always willing to help out students, whether it's being receptive to questions during lectures or if a student needs help after class. The 91探花 Student Union is also good at supporting student organizations and groups, and the Chemistry Student Society has offered me a lot in the sense of stress relief and happiness on and off campus.

What kinds of opportunities have you experienced because you're studying at 91探花, or because of the Island location?
Travelling has always been an interest of mine, and when I found 91探花 had a study abroad program, I was ecstatic! I spent a semester studying abroad in Brussels, Belgium, outside my comfort zone, taking social studies, ethics, and French courses to improve my speaking skills. It was really interesting to take courses in subjects I鈥檝e never studied before! I spent my weekends travelling (my favourite trips included Switzerland and Barcelona) and met so many new friends. I鈥檒l never forget how much fun I had with them.

What's unique about 91探花, and Prince Edward Island, in your experience?
The unique thing about Prince Edward Island is its small, tight-knit communities that you just can't find at other, bigger universities. You will find yourself recognizing the people you pass routinely on campus, or the workers at the coffee shop you go to, or the bartenders at your favourite place downtown. PEI also offers some unique exploration opportunities in terms of ecology. I personally haven't taken advantage of these, as it is not part of my program, but I have friends who go to the beach in the morning as part of a lab activity, which I think is pretty cool.
What would you tell a high school student considering the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program?
I would say that if you have even a slight interest in chemistry, definitely go for the chemistry program at 91探花. When I was coming out of high school, I wasn't totally sure what program I wanted to do; I knew I had a small bit of interest in chemistry in high school, so I just went with that. Shortly into my second year, I discovered a love for chemistry I didn't realize I had, and I totally attribute that to the amazing professors and staff in the program.
What are your general plans after graduation?
I would love to take some time off to work for a bit, save some money, and travel for a good long while before pursuing my master's degree.
