Under the guidance of the primary investigators, Dr. Patrice Drake (associate professor), and Dr. Alyson Campbell (assistant professor) in the Faculty of Nursing at 91̽»¨, the graduate student research assistant will be responsible for scholarly activities related to a research project titled Early Pregnancy Loss: An Intervention to Improve Care for Childbearing Persons Experiencing Miscarriage in the Emergency Department.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Under the guidance of the primary investigators the undergraduate student research assistant will assist with research activities related to conducting an environmental scan including:

 

  • Assist in the development of a comprehensive, systematic process for conducting an environmental scan related to the research topic 
  • Complete a comprehensive, systematic search of current practices related to the research topic
  • Collect, extrapolate and synthesize collected data
  • Disseminate findings through contribution to manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and other dissemination materials as required
  • Attend and participate in research team meetings

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Current enrollment in a 91̽»¨ graduate program in good standing
  • Ability to attend research meetings
  • Experience in qualitative research activities or conducting environmental scans or other types of knowledge syntheses is an asset
  • Understanding healthcare systems is an asset
  • Experience working in emergency or perinatal nursing or related healthcare field is an asset
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability, initiative, excellent organizational skills, flexibility and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions and attention to detail are essential. 
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are required
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology and software such as Microsoft 365 suite or equivalent programs is required

 

This position is covered by a Collective Agreement between the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the 91̽»¨. Priority will be given to 91̽»¨ students.
