Student Laboratory Assistant - Department of Psychology - Faculty of Arts
$20.75 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
August 1, 2024, to June 1, 2025
The Department of Psychology has one opening for a student to perform various duties as the lab assistant for a social sciences research lab under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Strong.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Practice and model lab values of humility, accountability, collectivity, and respect of all peoples in interactions with colleagues, collaborators, and participants
- Improving and updating lab protocols and practices so they align with these values
- Co-managing and coordinating research activities
- Training and overseeing student researchers on lab protocols (e.g., data collection and management)
- Maintaining quality assurance (e.g., data collection and management)
- Co-managing and co-analyzing datasets
- Serving as initial point-of-contact for AgeStrong PEI
- Attending bi-weekly lab meetings
- Initiating and carrying out new research projects as appropriate and needed, based on community needs and priorities and the person's area(s) of expertise
- Working independently and as part of the collective
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a 91探花 Student, with preference given to third and fourth-year undergraduate students
- Prior experience in a community placement or clinical setting
- Prior experience in social sciences or humanities lab working with human participants
- Interest in working with older adults
- Familiarity with SPSS, Jamovi, and/or SAS
- Reliability, dependability, organization
- Strong interpersonal skills
