Student Laboratory Assistant - Department of Chemistry - Faculty of Science
$15.40 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
ASAP to August 30, 2024
Reporting to Dr. Marissa Clapson, the Department of Chemistry is seeking a Student Laboratory Assistant.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the development of undergraduate laboratory activities for Inorganic I (Chem 2720)
- Perform proposed undergraduate experiments
- Propose adjustments to the laboratory experiments where appropriate
- Assist in the development and updating of laboratory manual, marking schemes and rubrics, and example laboratory reports
- Assist in assuring alignment between laboratory and lecture content
- Development of similar materials will be started for Inorganic II (Chem3740)
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of Inorganic I (Chem 2720) or equivalent. The laboratory component of the course must have been completed in-person
- Successful completion of Inorganic II (Chem 3740) will be considered an asset.
- Completed WHMIS and a thorough understanding of chemical safety with the ability to readily search and understand chemical SDS
- Previous experience as a TA, lab coordinator, or educational assistant will be considered an asset
