The Department of History is seeking to hire a student to help develop and run the reconstruction of a 15th-century witch trial based on the procedures laid out in the Malleus maleficarum for students in HIST4165.

Duties include:

  • Work with Professor Raiswell through December 2023 to develop a Reacting-to-the-Past style scenario based on Inquisition records from late 15th-century Ravensburg and Innsbruck
  • Work with students in HIST4165 over the course of the winter term 2024, mentoring them and helping them understand the historical context underlying the scenario
  • Stimulate and moderate chat through an electronic messaging service
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Must have taken HIST4090: 鈥The Malleus Maleficarum in Context鈥
  • Excellent knowledge of late medieval social and cultural history
  • Strong communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, good attention to detail
