February – April 30, 2024 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding, and departmental requirements)   

The Lacroix Laboratory in the Department of Biology requires a Laboratory Technician to assist with research projects related to developmental plant morphology. The successful applicant will be involved in the development of plant tissue culture protocols and preparation of plant material for a variety of microscopical applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and coordinating experiments in the lab
  • Participating in training student researchers as needed
  • Maintaining live plant materials
  • Keeping accurate records of laboratory experiments, data, and inventory of supplies
  • Aiding in the preparation of applications for research funding

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.Sc. with a major in Biology
  • Experience in preparation of plant material for sectioning and light microscopy as well as scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
  • Previous experience in plant tissue culture
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience in training others in a laboratory setting would be considered an asset
