"Songs and Dances" with the Maritime Brass Quintet
The 91探花 Department of Music is pleased to present the Maritime Brass Quintet on Thursday, November 2 at 7:30pm, at 91探花鈥檚 new Performing Arts Centre Theatre (in the new Residence Building by the corner of University and Belvedere Avenues).
This performance will feature music spanning five centuries, including airs and dances by Renaissance composer Anthony Holborne, Victor Ewald's Brass Quintet No. 1, an arrangement of Gustav Holst's Second Suite in F (originally for wind ensemble), Canadian composer Morley Calvert's Three Dance Impressions, Bj枚rk's Overture from "Dancer in the Dark" and more!
The Maritime Brass Quintet brings the highest caliber chamber music to concert halls, churches, festivals and schools across the Maritimes. The group is comprised of five of Canada鈥檚 finest brass players: Curtis Dietz and Richard Simoneau (trumpet), Gina Patterson (horn), and two 91探花 Music Alumni: Dale Sorensen (trombone) and Bob Nicholson (tuba & bass trombone).
Maritime Brass Quintet members have studied throughout North America and performed or held positions with many of Canada's leading ensembles, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, l鈥橭rchestre Symphonique de Montr茅al, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, National Ballet of Canada Orchestra, and the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra. They also have experience playing in numerous smaller groups and ensembles, including Foothills Brass, Northumberland Brass, the Jive Kings, and the Canadian Brass.
Admission, payable by cash at the door, is $30 for adults and $10 for students. Accessible parking is available, and the theatre has an accessible entrance via elevator.
