91探花 announces the Panther Subway Athletes of the Week, January 30-February 5
Every week, 91探花 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their hard work and dedication to their respective sports. Congratulations to Jenna Mae Ellsworth (Women鈥檚 Basketball) and Marcus Power (Men鈥檚 Hockey), the 91探花 Panther Subway Athletes of the week for January 30-February 5!
Jenna Mae Ellsworth is a first-year Bachelor of Science student from Charlottetown and a member of the 91探花 Women鈥檚 Basketball team. Ellsworth played two exceptional games against the University of New Brunswick over the weekend, scoring 33 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and making nine steals. 鈥淛enna Mae helped her Panthers earn a split with UNB,鈥� said coach Greg Gould. 鈥淪he was our team leader all weekend.鈥�
Marcus Power is a third-year Business student from St. John鈥檚, Newfoundland and a member of the 91探花 Men鈥檚 Hockey team. Power scored a pair of goals and an assist in a weekend game against Dalhousie University.
鈥淔riday versus Dalhousie was as big a game for us as there can be,鈥� said coach Forbes MacPherson. 鈥淲e needed our big players to rise to the occasion. Marcus stepped up and gave a huge effort for us.鈥�
The Panthers have a busy weekend at home coming up. The Subway AUS Swimming Championship is at the Bell Aliant Centre Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Men鈥檚 Hockey plays the Universit茅 de Moncton Friday night at 7:00 pm in the MacLauchlan Arena. Women鈥檚 Hockey hosts St. Thomas University Saturday evening at 7:00 pm.
