On March 19th, the French Club in partnership with the Department of Modern Languages will be hosting a one-of-a-kind event on the 91探花 Campus.
To share the French Canadian culture with our fellow community members, we will be hosting a Traditional Cabane 脿 Sucre brunch. A Cabane 脿 Sucre (English: Sugar shack) is a cabin like establishment located on a sugar maple farm. In the spring, it is a popular outing for families, friends, and colleagues.
Served in a traditional, rustic, and warm atmosphere, large amount of authentic French Canadian food and too much maple syrup are served, along with traditional music being played. After the feast, there is an outdoor Tire Sur Neige (taffy on snow) station present and it is not unusual to visit the maple farm and see farm animals. This activity celebrates not only sugar, but also promotes a community bonding experience as strangers sit at the same tables and pass around plates of food, and dance and sing to the traditional tunes.
There will traditional music, feast, games, and prizes.
There will be live entertainment starting at 10 until 12. The buffet will start at 10.30.
Tickets are $15 per adult, $10 for children 12 and under, or a Family (2 adult, 2 children) for $40. It is open to anyone.
If you missed the ticket sales, you can visit the Facebook event or contact Anouk.
