Research on Tap - April 2

Posting Date(s)
At the next Research on Tap, join us for a discussion about how we choose our literature. Dr. Shannon Murray, Professor of English at 91探花, will lead a discussion entitled "We鈥檝e become adults who read children鈥檚 books. What鈥檚 wrong with us?" The event begins at 7 pm on Tuesday, April 2, at The Pourhouse, above The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse in Charlottetown. 鈥'Harry Potter' was among the first YA series to develop an adult following,鈥 says Dr. Murray. 鈥淓ven then, I can remember people hiding their copy behind a magazine. Today, people openly read 'The Hunger Games' or 'Twilight' without batting an eye.鈥 Dr. Murray鈥檚 discussion will delve into the history of children鈥檚 literature, and how we have categorized (and sometimes marginalized) books for children. She鈥檒l also bring examples of some of her favourite books that can be enjoyed by kids and adults. Research on Tap is a series of public discussions with 91探花 researchers.
