91̽»¨ moved over to a new and improved version of Moodle on Monday, August
5.
Please note that all current courses will remain at the address
old-moodle.upei.ca
There will be a link at the top of moodle.upei.ca called "Old Moodle" where
you will also be able to access your courses.
Please note that when you want to move your old courses into the New Moodle
you will need to go through the backup and restore process.
To learn how to do the backup and restore process and to get an idea of the
new features, please have a look at the 91̽»¨ New Moodle Features playlist
at: youtube.com/eloatupei
We will continue to offer more support throughout the rollout process and
hope to make the process as convenient as possible.

The domestic hot water will be shut off in Cass Building on
Thursday, August 15 from 8:00 am-12:00 pm. This shutdown is necessary to
do repairs to water lines within the lower level wet lab. This will only
affect the hot water, cold water will remain on.

Dear colleagues
As many of you know, Dr. Brian Wagner served 91̽»¨ as
Assistant Vice-President Graduate Studies for three years. On August 1,
2013, Brian returned full-time to the chemistry department.
Vickie Johnston and I have organized an informal gathering at Mavors
(Lounge area is booked and we can overflow outside if it is nice) from
3:30-5:30 pm on August 21.
Please join us as we raise a glass to honour and thank Brian for his
excellent work in support of graduate studies and graduate students at 91̽»¨.

nibblies (but not drinks!)
Starting on Thursday, August 15 from 6:30-7:15 am, fitness instructor
Tracey Gairns-Brioux will lead this class and bring a sweat to your brow!
Exerices using your own body weight are designed to challenge your
aerobically and increase your muscle tone. We'll also use TRX suspension
training while on the track. The cost of the program is $50 for Chi-Wan Young Sports
Centre members, $60 for non-members plus HST for the six classes. To
register, please visit Panther Central desk and we'd be happy to register
you.

The deadline for Animal Care Protocol Submissions -- new, renewal, or amendments -- is Friday, September 6 for the September meeting.
Ensure you always download the current forms from and use Adobe Reader to complete forms. Only current forms will be accepted.
Both the signed hard copy and electronic protocol submission must be submitted by the deadline date.
∙ Submit one copy of original protocol with signature to AVC - Annex, Biomedical Sciences Dept., Rm 2302.
∙ Submit an electronic copy to animalcare@upei.ca
Those protocols received after the deadline will be reviewed the following month.

staff. You can print your application by visiting

Please have the form completed before coming to the Accounting Office
to have it processed. The Accounting Office is located on the lower
level of the Kelley Memorial Building.
Please note that there is a limited number of designated parking spaces available.
They will be sold first come, first served. If you have a balance owing to 91̽»¨, without a payroll
deduction in place, you will be required to clear your balance before
purchasing a parking permit.
Payment can be made by cash/cheque, credit/debit. Payroll deductions
are required for gated B & C for full-time, permanent part-time
employees which will begin in September for 26 pay periods. This is an
ongoing deduction for permit purchases in gated lots B & C.
A reminder that parking permits will be going on sale for students
August 27, 2013. At that time, permit sales will be moved to the
kiosk, main floor of the W.A. Murphy Student Centre, until permits are sold out.
Hours of operation are 9:00 am-3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
The next deadline for submitting biosafety protocols, including new
applications, renewals, and/or amendments, is Monday, August 26.

The University has engaged an independent panel of three reviewers to
conduct an assessment of programs and activities related to Island Studies.
Panelists include Dr. Liette Vasseur of Brock University, Dr. Graham
Whitelaw of Queen's University, and Mr. David MacDonald, PC. On Wednesday,
August 14, Dr. Graham Whitelaw and Mr. David MacDonald will conduct the
second site review and meet with as many of the key stakeholders as
possible.
Interested members of the campus community are invited to an *Open Campus
Meeting with Wednesday, August 14 from 4:00–5:00 pm in the Kelley Memorial
