At the Chaplaincy Centre thoughts are with the students during exam time, their success, and yes, of course, the chili dinner. On the first two days of exams - Wednesday and Thursday, April 9 and 10 - between 11:30 am鈥1:30 pm, a chili dinner is served at the Chaplaincy Centre, free for the students. About 300 students show up each day with smiles and conversation on this busy week. We are looking for faculty and staff to help out and provide encouragement for students on their exams. The workshops are being hosted by 91探花 Research Services and will be delivered by Laura-Lee Balkwill, Policy Analyst from the Secretariat on Responsible Conduct of Research, Ottawa. The ethics workshop topics to be presented are: 9:00 am 鈥 10:30 am: Social Sciences and Humanities and Research Ethics 10:45 am 鈥 12:15 pm: Health Sciences and Research Ethics 1:15 pm 鈥 2:45 pm: Research Ethics Board Review: How is it Done? Putting the TCPS2 into Practice 3:00 pm 鈥 4:30 pm: Research involving First Nations, Inuit and Metis People of Canada. There is no charge to attend the workshops and you may attend as many as you like. The workshops will be held on campus, location to be announced. Beth Buchanan, BSc, MSc will present her thesis "SEMI-SYNTHESIS OF A BIOLOGICALLY INSPIRED LIBRARY OF SESQUITERPENE DERIVATIVES, FROM THE LIPOPHILIC MARINE NATURAL PRODUCT (+)-尾-GORGONENE" on Friday, April 4 at 1:00 pm in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre Lecture Theatre, room 212. Everyone is welcome to attend.
There will be two honour presentations in Math/Stats on Monday, April 7 from 11:00 am-12:30 pm in McDougall Hall, Room 329. The students presenting are: Chuyu Zhang: "The Inverse Problem of the Fronbenius_Perron operator with applications in Finance" and Chengyin Wang: "A linear algebraic approach for valuation of annuities and bonds with stochastic interest rates." All are welcome to attend.
