Become a veterinarian – choose AVC!

AVC is situated in the capital city of Charlottetown on the 91̽»¨ campus, and offers students the opportunity to study veterinary medicine alongside world-class experts and engage in hands-on learning in a warm and welcoming environment. Our small class size and state-of-the-art facilities make AVC a top choice for both international and regional students.

View our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program page.

Our DVM program is fully accredited by the American and Canadian Veterinary Medical Associations, and is recognized by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in the United Kingdom. That means that our graduates are eligible for licensure in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and beyond!

Here at the AVC, we are proud of our long tradition of bringing regional and international students together to study veterinary medicine and, with over 1,700 DVM graduates to date, our alumni are employed throughout the United States, here in Canada, and in countries around the world. Our low attrition rate and proven track record of success on the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination are just some of the many benefits of an AVC education.

Please consider visiting us to see firsthand what we have to offer. Our Annual Open House happens every September and is a great time to visit our campus and meet our current DVM students. Alternatively, tours can be pre-arranged for prospective students and their families at other times throughout the year.

Please contact the Dean’s Office at (902) 566-0882 for more information about Open House or to book a tour.
